"Karwar trip" bible

hey !

Probably this one of my first public blog!...

So this blog is abt my latest trip .. to karwar .. probably might turn out to be the last for the next few months :)

To start off I should confess

1) I m no blogger ....got some reason to blog abt this trip .reason will come later in the same blog :)

2) I am not a good planner or the truth is.. i never plan .. its just that i know the place to start from and the end place .. baaki sab runtime mein . This statement holds good for both my writing as well as my trips :)

Ok .... The main reason for writing abt the karwar trip
firstly) We got "OUR" own Gooda's blogspot to contribute to
secondly) Prbably this trip would be forgotten by me n others after sometime :-| .. so i m writing for my owns sake !!

It all had started with "me" ..yes it was me ... suggesting ppl that the karnataka coastal strip looks better than the goa strip. This was after the Ratnagiri trip in Dec 2009 ..
It so happened Sid's sis in-laws are from Karwar . He got real nice reviews abt it from her. So the talk abt karwar was goin on for some days between me , Gooda and Sid.. But no trip was on cards because i was planning to head south to Kerala and ya Gooda too was a part of it !

yikes !!! The moment of truth .. For those who ever tought Kerala trip was Gooda's mastermind or he had anything to do with the planning of it .. Or if you have heard any such songs sung by Gooda .. gimme a buzz !! You wud luv to hear it from me . :P ... Anyways the blog is abt the Karwar trip !!

Ok back on track .. So infact no trip was on plan .. But Sid too started to plan for a Kerala trip .. Now we had to do something .. coz We were already leaving for Kerala in few days n Sid is not on board for sure :) .. so we had divert his mind to Karwar .. n ya even if he wouldnt he wud have to after some days eventually!!

Yes after the Kerala trip !!! Sid knew that he had to prepare for Karwar n not kerala !! Dates were fixed by him . The mahurat was of the last weekend of Feb since 1 march was a holiday and 2nd wud have to be a sick leave

Siddhesh was totally tuned in.. planning day n night... skipping supper . :D

We were to see the Dandeli wildlife sacntuary , Karwar ...

Now comes the turning point .. yes yes..its well before the trip ... story mainstream se thodi hatke hain
The trip was shortened because it would be Sid's first day into a new team on 2nd Mar and Gooda couldnt afford to take a leave on Friday ie 26 Feb.

The plan was out from Siddhesh

> Day 1 : Starting from thane at 7.15, We’ll board the bus at around
10.30 in pune and will be reaching karwar next day @ around 9 in the morning
Day 2 : Devbagh beach (I heard we can do snorkeling there )… lunch @ devbagh, and then in the evening we’ll go to Navy museum (If interested) We’ll stay in karwar
Day 3 : We’ll be going to sadashivgadh and after lunch towards goa we’ll spend an evening @ the palolem beach
Day 4 : Go to Butterfly beach have lunch and leave for nearest place where we can get a bus to home…
Day 5 morning : Home and office…..

Dandeli ... where did Dandeli go ..??? oh oh ... This made Gooda real furious .. i still wonder Y.. but thats a different issue ..Again Goa .. we goin Goa ?? Y Y ... Gooda couldnot take this ... He hates Goa .. aah .. Gooda hates Goa ...

Again Moment of truth . Gooda just hates Goa for the very simple reason that for the past sooo many months b4 he had even gone for his project event to Goa i had brainwashed him that Goa is worth-less . .. yikes ... anyways .. lets continue...

Gooda wasnt ready to hear anything ... we had to shut him up.. But now "Gooda had nothing to do with this trip"
Sid had decided to cancel the dandeli part since we were 1 day short now and the dandeli forest department themselves in their site have mentioned not to visit the sancturay to see big animals coz u wont c one!! Again we do have plans for a seperate wild-life sanctuary trip (any takers ?? contact sid now!!)
Ok now we had 2 options either go south of Karwar or north to south Goa .. we decided South-Goa ..just for the mere reason of easy commuting to madgaon!
(the previous 2 We represents me n Sid )

But But But .. Gooda was all upset .. He has nothing to do with this trip now... So wht we decided .. ok lets try if we can make it to dandeli / Anshi National park ..But we will keep it a surprise to Gooda!!

Day 1- (Starting from Friday night)
Now comes the day ..its Friday ..the travellers are (I , Gooda ,Siddhesh,Noor (my Bsc College frnd))
Noor was supposed to get a Karwar bus from Vandana,Thane at 7 according to Sid's master plan ....
but that bus never turned up .. rather he got into a Belgaum st bus and came Pune

Inquiring in Pune we found there are no buses to Karwar .. so we decided to head towards Belgaum and get a Karwar bus from there .
We did so .. and reached belgaum at around 6-6:15 ..around 6 hrs journey from Pune. Got a Karwar bus from belgaum between 7-8 which was supposed to go via Anshi National Park . we had told Gooda ok we are goin to Anshi for his sake .. n not goin directly to Karwar ..

After some 2-3 hrs bumpy road travel we reached Anshi ... We found that we had to do bookings in Dandeli in order to visit the park.. but the officer was nice and gave us the permission without goin to Dandeli office... the main camp was around 3kms from the check post and we had to walk all the way .. it must have been between 11:30-12:30.. while going to the camp we saw a bunch of monkeys (added this line so to tell yes we saw something)

We took a 3hr walk package (75 rs / head i guess) . We had such a nice experience in Thekkady but here it was total opposite no bird watching nothing .. it was just a mere 3 hr excercise ... haa saw some snake n thts it .. some trees n ya spider webs , ant homes (Sid hasnt uploaded the pics yet i guess!).. came back . Had Dal-rice as lunch there (thts inclusive of the package) .. and back to check post to get a bus to Karwar ... Anshi was a total disppointment n to top of it .. "Gooda had nothing to do with this trip" so it made things worse!

Before i continue ..i would like to add ... Gooda's mind had been set .. its the worst trip of his life .. n ..n .. yaaa .. "Gooda had nothing to do with this trip"

fine we got a bus to Karwar from Anshi at around 4:15 ... reached Karwar at around 6:30 i guess ..
Probably Karwar is the only place on NH-17 from where we can see the seashore along the road (dont knw abt the ratnagiri-malvan corridor tough).. we got down and headed directly to the beach ... it was RT beach. enjoyed the sunset .. and now needed to hunt for rooms .. I wasnt tht keen in bargaining 2day and yes ... "Gooda had nothing to do with this trip".. so money wasnt a issue :) ... we singled out on one quickly ... it was a good1 ... 4 beds Rs 950/day with TV .. nice deal without any bargaining .. ya actaully it was 1000 Rs which i bargained to 950 :P ..

anyways we had found there is one nonveg hotel .. Amar .. n its best in the business in Karwar .... after searching for it we left hope ... no1 knew where was Amar .. the things was ..it wasnt Amar.. it was Amrut :D .. i had heard it wrong ...... went to amrut ..Ordered whtever was possible.. wont go into the details of it .. but it was all seafood ... n yaaa.. Amrut is best in its business ... one thing to be shared is i have never had such a juicy n tasty crab than i ate at Amrut..

So the day was over ...... "Gooda had nothing to do with this trip"

Day 2 -
we got up i dont knw when .. got ready..after fitness training from Fitness coach Noor ...had breakfast ..as far as i remember it was around 10:30-11:30 we headed towards Sadashivgad .. we got down at a place from where u can c it ... but unfortunately we cant get to the fort from here ... after seeing such a small cliff ..our own mordern day Shivaji Maharaj from AP decided yet again ..."he had nothing to do with the trip" ... we decided to skip the fort for time being and go gor the beach.

so we decided to find a way to the nearest beach we could see .. did some1-2 hrs tp all in vain..we had no route from where we were to go to the beach we were seeing

now we were kind of dissapointed (atleast Siddhesh was).. it was not working .. Ppl dont want to go to the beach ..no1 is interested for the fort ..wht to do??
so it was done we were goin to some beach now ..which1??.. whichever public suggests

Finally somehow we reached Devbagh beach ....No1 was there in the beach .. total empty .. obviously ... 2 at noon kaun rahenga beach par ... anyways .. I ,Siddhesh n Noor enjoyed a lot on the beach.. Me n sid learnt some basic swimming .. but Gooda didnt n y wud he after being on the beaches of Malvan!!!! ... anyways "Gooda had nothing to do with this trip"
Got back to hotel - every1 took a bath - went for lunch ... but amrut was closed .. had a veg lunch .. Noor left for Udupi n we went for the musuem .. saw the museum and enjoyed the sunset on the beach .. it was the Karwar beach

Ok.. then came Sid's sis In-laws .. it was a nice melodarama ... just cant shop laughing thinking of it ...Anyways we had 2 dinners :) 1 at premier and another at Amrut

We had to stay at Karwar that say since they insisted that we couldnot go to Goa after 6.!

Day3

So next morning we got up real late ..Sid had left for his sis in-laws place ... But i n Gooda didnt go there .. Sis's saasuma had made n no. of items for us .. all had to go in the dustbin ...
well ya ... something that all 3 of us here need to learn
-Gooda : shaayad kabhi apne usool ke aage jugoge toh chote nahi hojaaoge
-Me : How to say "no" in such situation
-Siddhesh : How to get matured :P

Well this is my view point .. maybe all of us are right at their own places .. but one thing i knw.. all the work of Aunty n the food goes not vain... thts not right in any sense!!!

We reach Palolem beach ... it was very crowded ... but superb beach ... n the best part is .. Gooda felt like swimming .. arre bhai .. koi isko batao ... goa hain yeh .. he hates Goa ...
enjoyed the time there ... then had lunch .. i was insisting ki apun kidher aur lunch karte hain (i had some fear in my mind) .. but then we decided to eat it there itself .. n yes My fears came true .. it was the worst sea-food we ever had .. Forgot to add Sid bought 2 "Royal" t-shirts :) for 200rs each
psst... they dont make Avenger tshirts ...

Now we took a bus to madgaon .. n from there bus to belgaum .. yes in Madgaon i have something to share

I was in my shorts n decided to wear my tracks .. so i went to the sulab shochalaya there ... i changed and came out . i didnt even use any toilets/bathrooms .. The "Bhaiyya" there started demanding 5rs for it ... got into some tu-tu main-main with him.. anyways i didnt pay him anything n if i wud probably my dad wud have killed me if he wud come to knw tht i was looted by a toilet-keeper Bhaiyya (.. n ya i wish Shantanu reads this blog) .. All Bhaiyyas are ... err leave it .. i keep it to the Thackerays .... unka bread n butter chalta hain Bhaiyya topic pe .. haha .. dont get confused folks about whose side i m .. I m a Maharastrian muslim Kokni :)

In belgaum .. we had our dinner at Niyaaz just outside the depot .... food their is mindbloggling ..

word of caution : when i say mind-bloggling... be sure its not a 5 star hotel ka khana .. so my IT friends can stay away i guess!

So from belgaon to swargate to ved villa .... reached around 4:30 i guess ..

overall comment:
lotss n lotts of hiccups .. but cant say a bad trip.. it was enjoyable!!

but ya 1 thing tht i learnt from karwar even infact Kerala that it is high time now tht Maharastrians stop living Shivaji's era !! .. Again its my statement if u can digest and understand wht i mean good else Ridwan aise bahut dialogues maarta hain . agar Ridwan ko seriously looge toh log tumhe paagal samjhenge!
