Bike, Babe or a Beast.....

When i came to Pune 3 years back.... one thing was clear, I am going to buy a bike... cause Pune doesn't leave much of a choice.... and I wasn't swapnil to buy a car so just like a normal punekar I bought a bike which had the best mileage.... but after a while i grew fond of the biking trips for mainly 2 reasons
1) Compared to Mumbai, Non existent public transport in pune
2) After 1 hours drive in any direction from pune, you can reach some historical fort... Dam... or at least some ancient temple...

During my trips I realized, I need a better machine... something which offers me both comfort and power...a cruiser... So the investigations began...

finally I was left with 2 options ... 1) Avenger 2) Thunderbird

Now gooda brought home the first option and remembering the shayaries and ads written on raj on the same topic, I decided to go for the second... and countless number of people who were intrigued by this bike convinced me that The Thunderbird is the perfect option.... there was just one problem.... In one review I read "I's not a bike, She is wife... treat her well and you'll enjoy her.."

So finally 5 months back i married the bird.... and when i brought this babe at home... i thought bringing home a real girl and introducing her to my Mom and Dad would've been easier... Dad : "That's one really big bike.... don't you think Majaak majaak me tumne bahot badi bike le li hai" may be he was right... he could not picture his son on this 183kg bike... and Mom on the other hand "Tata Nano would've been cheaper.. " and then she moved to some regular topics like my marriage.... now being just married I could not think of another marriage....

Next day I instantly started getting the Royal respect which was given to an RE biker... I found any two RE bikers connect very easily with each other.... whenever i came across any such biker... they acknowledged me ... which other bikers do that other than RE or may be the RD350 (they must be saying.. you use RD350 and still alive??... Well done dude...)

Talking about the connection... First time from Mumbai to Pune on this bike I stopped and couple of bulletiers from the other lane stopped for me just to check if everything was OK... and that was just a beginning.... one policeman stopped me once just to ask me price of this bird.... in harihareshwar I befriended a whole group of bikers for just one reason.... and these are just a few of the incidents...

Now i am used to all of this.... The wait on the signal has never been better.... Now I spend that time talking about my bike.... and i don't even have to start the conversation... The people in the conversations are categorized in 2 types the Enthusiasts and the Users... The Users talk about the new engine which is installed in Thunderbird.. and Enthusiasts have just one reaction... It's a beast... how do you manage to tame it...

Well i dont really have to.... Do you really believe the rhythm in the thump can be achieved from an untamed beast ?? Chheda once said... This bike has changed your style of biking.... you are treating it with respect now.... may be yes.... earlier i just wanted to go fast.. now I just want to enjoy the rhythm which this bike makes.... I just want to feel that thump in my blood....

Not all people are that enthusiastic .... especially girls ... One of my friends asked me if this has the better mileage than my earlier bike and i simply laughed at her ignorance.... but very few girls drive the bikes(Not scooties) and even fewer drive these beasts.... may be it's a girl thing... girls usually have issues with other girls you know... I have never seen any girl driving RE and only couple of ladies i know drive this bike are already in the news... one was a lady who traveled in himalayas on this bike made her way to woman's day special newspaper and the other is Gul panag... people call her rebel cause she drives a Royal Enfiend.... It was my dream to marry a biker girl but i dont think Gul Panag would be interested.... Sometimes a GF missing in my life makes me upset but when only the bike makes so many people envious... why you need a GF??....
